Came here after a re-enactment of General Washington's perilous crossing of the Delaware River, Christmas night in 1776. It was a cold and bitter day back in 1776 and it was cold and bitter today, as well. We came hungry. A warm place with comfortable seating and good, delicious hot food was all we asked for. The Washington Crossing Inn delivered. Warm, I believe fresh baked, rolls got us going. My dish, Mushroom Duxelle Ravioli, consisting of mushroom ravioli with green peas, shaved Padano cheese with sage and sauvignon butter, hit the spot. The portion was more than adequate and the cream sauce was delicious and, well, creamy. To accompany my meal, Kendall Jackson Chardonnay is a favorite of mine. Its buttery texture and taste provided a very nice pairing. The Inn has a very nice dessert menu but with a few hours of driving ahead of us and such a filling meal as prerequisite, we fought the urge and abstained. The reenactment was very well staged and executed. The meal that followed put the finishing touch on a cold and blustery but very enjoyable day celebrating one of the more decisive days in American history.
